Event Information

Named Yale’s Artists in Residence in 2014, the BRENTANO STRING QUARTET has a long and warm relationship with Amherst College. In 2012, the Brentano provided the central music (Beethoven’s Opus 131) for the critically acclaimed independent film A Late Quartet. The Brentano performs Mozart’s “Hunt” Quartet, K 458 and—with their founding cellist, Michael Kannen, as a special guest—the Schubert Quintet.

“This was wonderful, selfless music-making.”—The Times (London)

Special Note: At Amherst, the Brentano String Quartet embarks on a three-concert live recording project under Professor Jenny Kallick’s auspices. Your subscription to the Chamber Series therefore includes complimentary tickets to two additional Brentano performances (September 20 at 8 p.m. and September 21 at 3 p.m.). For further information about Kallick’s Schubert symposium, please see schubert.music.amherst.edu (no www.).
